Add electronic prescriptions

An electronic prescription is a digital version of a paper prescription. It is a safe and convenient alternative to paper prescriptions.

You can choose to receive an electronic prescription from your healthcare provider when you next need a prescription, and store it in the app.

  1. Open the electronic prescription

    When you receive a new electronic prescription via text message or email, click on the link and your 1800MEDICARE app should open if you have no other apps installed that also store electronic prescriptions.

  2. Log in to the 1800MEDICARE app

    Select Log in.

  3. Add electronic prescription

    The electronic prescription will appear on the screen.

    Select Add electronic prescription to import.

    The prescription will now be visible in the 1800MEDICARE app.

  4. View your electronic prescription information

    Select the prescription to display the information required for a pharmacy to dispense it.
