Invite someone to access, view and help manage your record

You can invite a nominated representative to view or help you manage your record using their own login to the 1800MEDICARE app. They might be a family member (especially useful for children who have just turned 14), close friend, or carer and must act in accordance with your will and preferences.

Depending on the level of access you grant, a nominated representative will be able to view your documents or upload and add information.

A nominated representative is someone you or an authorised representative invites to have access to your information.

  1. Log in to the 1800MEDICARE app

    Open the 1800MEDICARE app, select Log in.

  2. Select your record

    Choose the record you want to access. This could be your record or someone you are an authorised representative for.

  3. Select the profile icon

    In the top right corner of your screen, select the profile icon.

  4. Select 'Privacy and access'

    Select Privacy and access.

  5. Select 'Representatives'

    Select Representatives.

  6. Select 'Invite someone'

    To invite someone to view or help manage your record, you will need to:

    • enter their name (for your reference)
    • choose their access level (set document access)
    • create an access code to share (select Generate code)

  7. Generate code

    Once the code has been generated, the app will display detailed instructions on how to share the code.

  8. Ask them to accept the invitation

    The person you sent the code to will need to accept the invitation via My Health Record.
