Ms Elysia Canning
Elysia Canning is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, advisor, and leader with a strong commitment to innovative rural and remote health and disability service delivery. With over 20 years of experience in the sector, both as a clinician and in operational leadership roles, she has significantly expanded the availability and accessibility of allied health services for children and young people across north-west Western Australia. Her work has included delivering services through face-to-face consultations, telehealth, and a combination of both, reaching some of the most remote Australians in need of health and disability support services.
Elysia has led multidisciplinary teams of allied health professionals and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) providers, giving her valuable insights into developing and refining the technology for service models that utilise telehealth and digital records. This approach supports person-centred, confidential, and culturally sensitive services for assessments, consultations, and therapy. She has also worked with government agencies and businesses to ensure remote communities have access to the essential digital infrastructure needed to overcome barriers to quality healthcare.
Through her company, Business Momentum, Elysia advises allied health businesses on strengthening their organisational systems and foundations to ensure they provide high-quality, compliant, and accessible services. Elysia is a certified member of Speech Pathology Australia and remains connected to professional networks, including Rural Health West and the Rural, Regional, Remote Women’s Network of WA. She is dedicated to leveraging digital technology to improve access to services in remote areas, ensure continuity of care, and future-proof health services to meet evolving client and patient needs.
