Susan Emerson is an experienced aged care nurse and thought leader who has worked in innovative roles in the aged and community care setting over thirty years. She has experienced the benefits and frustrations of digital innovation and is keen to drive consistent digital use across the aged care sector. Susan has worked in clinical and managerial leadership, design and project coordination for the construction of new aged care facilities and has made a sustained contribution to service and policy thinking in the wider aged care sector – informed by significant international aged care engagement. Susan is General Manager, Leef independent Living Solutions (trading as Equip4living) in South Australia and the Northern Territory, which is a national retailer and distributor offering an expanded range of independent living solutions and innovative assistive technologies to support healthy ageing independence and rehabilitation in Australia and New Zealand. Susan is a Member of the Aged Care Financing Authority (ACFA) and of the National Aged Care Alliance and is a former Chair of the Australian College of Nursing Expert Advisory Committee on Ageing. Prior to joining the Australian Digital Health Agency, she was a Clinical Governance Lead with the National eHealth Transitional Authority (NeHTA) for over five years.
