Call for volunteers to join the Care Army

Published 28 April 2020

Are you able to help your local community?

The Queensland Government is calling for volunteers to be part of the Care Army tasked with helping and protecting up to one million Queenslanders most at risk – those who are over 65 or over 50 if they’re of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

During the floods and cyclones, they had the Mud Army – an army of volunteers helping Queenslanders get back on their feet.

The Care Army will reach out to a family member, a friend or a neighbour to check on them during this time of crisis and ensure they have access to food, medical services and are not feeling isolated. You could call them for a chat, see if they need a hand with online shopping, or even host a family dinner over a video-call. Find out more at https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/carearmy.
