Workplace Health & Safety Commitment Statement
The Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency) is committed to the physical and psychological health and safety of all employees, contractors and visitors to our premises.
The Agency Board and Senior Executives are committed to meeting obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth.) (WHS Act) and the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (Cth.), by having a work health and safety management system and a rehabilitation management system aligned with the relevant legislation and Australian and international standards.
The Agency’s approach to work health and safety is one of continuous improvement. We consistently review our work health and safety processes and promote a safety culture that is inclusive, supportive and free from bullying, discrimination and harassment.
Our Agency’s Commitment
Our work health and safety principles support the commitment we have made to a safe workplace for all. Our principles are that we will:
- Have in place a comprehensive and effective work health and safety management system
- Comply with applicable health and safety legislation
- Provide a work environment, systems of work and work culture which support and prioritise worker health and safety
- Implement risk management processes that take all reasonably practicable measures to prevent, eliminate or, where that is not possible, minimise the risks to a person’s physical and psychological health, safety and welfare
- Allocate sufficient financial and physical resources to effectively implement the work health and safety management system
- Provide effective information, training and instruction on matters relating to health and safety
- Foster a collaborative and cooperative relationship with our people, shared duty holders and stakeholders to consult on matters relating to health and safety
- Respond to early warning signs and incidents to implement controls that continuously improve the management of health and safety
- Support the rehabilitation of our people following an injury or illness, enabling a safe and productive return to work
- Measure objectives and targets for health and safety to reduce and eliminate work-related illness and injury, and
- Report on measures and targets to the Board, Senior Executive Committee and supporting committees.
Everyone at the Agency contributes to building and maintaining a physically and mentally healthy and safe work environment by caring for one another and putting safety first. We all play an important role in engaging in meaningful, transparent and respectful consultation on matters affecting health and safety to achieve our strategic outcomes.
