Courtney is implementing an EMR system that meets industry standards for Electronic Medical Records and enhances care coordination.
Scenario
She wants to upgrade to a new EMR system that enhances care coordination, reduces errors, and improves efficiency in the residential aged care facility. The enhanced system should deliver improvements to continuity of care for residents and enhance the ability to share data with relevant clinical teams.
Acceptance criteria
1. Functionality alignment
- At least 95% of the clinical and functional requirements “must” be met by the vendor with the remaining 5% covered by their enhancement roadmap at no additional cost.
- The new eMR should be able to cater to existing clinical workflows and have the flexibility to adapt to future needs and requirements.
- The system must collect and report data in compliance with the aged care quality standards.
2. Ease of use
- The system will have a user friendly and natural interface that minimises learning curve
- The EMR will support efficient workflow reducing tasks and steps for each stage
- Clinical support decision tools and references built in to support decision making
- Responsive in design that is mobile that works across various devices and platforms
3. Integration
- The new eMR should be able to integrate with other clinical systems such as Laboratory Information System (LIS), Medical Imaging and Radiology Information Systems and Medication Management systems
- Integrating the EMR with the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and My health Record (MyHR) to enhanced care coordination, improved efficiency, better patient outcomes and compliance.
