Daniel is a Radiologist working in a public hospital system.

He needs an intuitive digital health platform to streamline clinical workflow from referral to reporting. The solution should integrate processes like referral, image capture, analysis, reporting and communication.

Scenario

As a radiologist, I want a Medical Imaging and Radiology Information Systems that can capture my organisation’s end-to-end radiology process, so I can review referral information, provide accurate reporting, diagnoses or recommendations, and efficiently send my analysis back to the referring doctor in a timely manner for follow up patient care.

Acceptance criteria

1. Streamline operations

  • Immediately provide accurate patient information from the referring doctor, outlining the patient’s clinical notes and purpose of the investigation requested.
  • Clear high quality image capture to support analysis and diagnosis
  • The ability to access and compare previous imaging to identify any significant changes over time.
  • Ability to promptly collate data and results, provide report back to the referring doctor and upload to other core clinical systems, such as myHealth record.
  • Ability to integrate with dictation software.

2. Reporting

  • Ability to generate detailed reports with findings, impressions and recommendations clearly and efficiently.
  • Ability to provide referring doctor with additional information such as observed red flags, abnormalities, potential diagnoses, and suggestions for further actions, such as follow up imaging studies or consultations with specialists.

3. Patient data

  • Ability to provide SMS reminders and instructions to patients and notifications of their results.
  • Ability to safely secure and store patient data according to the relevant state and commonwealth requirements
  • The system should be able to provide a view of the complete history of previous patient radiology appointments, scans and studies.
  • The system should integrate with core clinical systems to pull in any vital information that is relevant to the appointment
